General Overview

We are building a passionate team to operate and serve the guests of Nuri Steakhouse, a Dallas-based steakhouse with Asian influences. We are committed to our mission of inspiring people to embrace different cultures of the world where the East meets the West.

 

We are seeking an exceptional Patissier to join our team. The perfect candidate will be responsible for crafting exquisite desserts that perfectly complement our unique menu, ensuring that each guest leaves with a memorable sweet experience. Your expertise in pastry techniques and flavor combinations will be integral to the overall success of our restaurant. Collaboration is key in this role, as you’ll work closely with the kitchen team to bring culinary visions to life. Strong communication skills and an eye for detail are essential, along with a passion for delivering beautiful, high-quality desserts. Essential Functions

  • Design and create a variety of sophisticated and visually stunning desserts, pastries, and baked goods, in alignment with the restaurant’s fine dining standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to develop seasonal menus, ensuring that dessert offerings complement the main courses and overall dining experience.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation of all pastry items.
  • Experiment with new recipes and techniques to continually elevate the dessert offerings.
  • Oversee the daily production of pastries and desserts, ensuring freshness and quality in every dish.
  • Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring proper storage, freshness, and ordering of products.
  • Train and supervise junior pastry staff and bakers, providing guidance in techniques, recipes, and presentation standards.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Stay up to date with pastry trends, techniques, and industry developments, incorporating innovative elements into the menu.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards by following proper sanitation and safety procedures, using necessary protective gear, and maintaining a hygienic and safe workspace. Promptly report any identified safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor while upholding stringent food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with industry best practices and local health regulations.

Major Responsibilities / Specific Requirements

  • Strong understanding of classical pastry techniques and experience with modern plating and dessert presentation.
  • Creativity and passion for producing exceptional pastries that align with the restaurant’s sophisticated brand.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, guests, and hourly staff.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, food temperature and best practices.
  • Minimum age requirement is eighteen (18) years.
  • Promote the culture, values, and mission of Restaurant K.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A degree in Culinary Arts or a specialized diploma/certification in Pastry Arts from an accredited culinary school is often preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a fine dining restaurant, luxury hotel, or high-end bakery/patisserie is highly desirable. Working in environments where high-volume production meets high-end plating and presentation skills are essential.
  • Participation in pastry-focused programs or apprenticeships that emphasize classic techniques such as sugar work, chocolate tempering, laminated doughs, and plated desserts, preferred.
  • Ability to acquire a valid Texas Food Handler Card within thirty (30) days of hiring.

  • This job entails frequent exposure to high temperatures and extreme cold. There is frequent contact/immersion of hands in water and sanitation solutions; and contact with produce items, dairy products, and frequent allergen-related items such as nuts, citrus, peanut butter, cinnamon, etc.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • May be requested to work weekends for special events.
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and maneuvering of kitchen equipment.Must have the strength and endurance to handle repetitive motions, such as cutting and trimming, and be capable of lifting objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Required to use assistance when available i.e. hand trucks, ramps, or another team member.
  • Be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift thirty (30) pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for periods of up to eight (8) hours.
